I get little headline snippets from MSNBC whenever I boot up. This afternoon, story #20
(only 20?) said that BP “plans to offset the entire cost” of the spill “against its tax bill,
reducing future contributions to U.S. tax coffers by almost $10 billion.” First, how to
write it off as a business expense? Then there’s tort liability, criminal negligence, and
regulatory violations for having an error-ridden emergency response plan. And now
they’re diversifying by breaking into comedy?
