National Pet Food Drive

Too many pets are being dumped at shelters by people who are hard-hit by the economic conditions of the day. To that end, Petco is teaming up with Best Friends Animal Society and Hill’s Science Diet to sponsor food and litter dropoffs at more than 1000 locations in the US, from November 5-15. Check with your local Petco store to see if you can help with the food drive, and also ask about BFAS’s No More Homeless Pets campaign (see http://www.bestfriends.org/nomorehomelesspets/ for more info).
Here in St. Louis, I’ve been working with Bi-State Pet Food Pantry, and with the various food pantries for people; sometimes I’ve been able to score cat food at one of the nearby churches. I have a big bag of dog food I need to donate. We won Proposition B here in Missouri, hooray! I providently escape depression because of the energy and enthusiasm of my fellow rescue workers; they are truly inspiring. Go make a difference!
