World Animal Day

That’s today, October 4th, not coincidentally the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron of my hometown of San Francisco.  Do something nice for a critter or two.  I’m gonna put out extra food for the feral cats.  Also, as a followup to the things I discussed a while ago about FEMA’s online courses on animals in disasters, PetSmart is hosting several webinars this month on that topic (a 4-parter), and one on dealing with the Spanish-speaking community in animal rescue situations.  Check out the dates and times at https://petsmartcharities.webex.com/mw0306ld/mywebex/default.do?siteurl=petsmartcharities, register, and tune in, won’t ya?

  1. St. Francis of Assisi is my very favorite saint, the pictures of him with his hands extended, surrounded by wild animals, warms my heart. We’ve saved many wild cats, adopted them and brought them into our family, and saved our dog, Melanie, from being taken to the pound.
If I ever get a larger place and more income, I’d love to adopt a horse, mule, chickens, dogs and, of course, more cats!!!
Hugs and thanks to you for all you do for our wild brethren,
    Diane T. and furfamily
