Urban Sustainability

I like the concept of floating cities out on the oceans, as demonstrated by the Operation Green Float idea being worked on by the Japanese, and discussed in a previous post on this blog, along with thoughts on O’Neill space colonies, but here’s a land-based idea which I love and is similar in having a “biosphere” that works and is totally contained, and could be a brownfield reclamation project in any city:

For the curious, the image is of the proposed ESA Gaia spacecraft due to launch next year. Just thought I’d make you scratch your heads. It looks like a hat anyway. Take off yer hats and scratch yer heads.
